Pot and Potter (Call and Response)
by Kathryn Hendrix

March 18, Wednesday – Psalm 101; 109; 119: 121-144; Jeremiah 18:1-11; Romans 8:1-11; John 6:27-40

*O when will You come to me? (Ps 101:2b AMP)

+My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me…No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; No one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. (Ps 101:6a, 7 NIV) All that the Father gives me will come to me; and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (John 6:36 & 37 NIV)

*…O Sovereign Lord, deal well with me for Your name’s sake… (Ps 109:21a NIV); the mind of sinful man is death…those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. (Rom 8:6a, 8)

+Will I not deal with you as the potter does the clay? I will form you into another pot, shaping you as seems best to me. (Jer. 18:5, 4 paraphrased)

*…out of the goodness of your love deliver me, for I am poor and needy… (Ps 109:21b & 22a NIV);

+…the Bread of God is He Who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world (John 6:33 AMP) He who comes to me will never be hungry and he who believes on and cleaves to… Me will never be thirsty… (John 6:35 AMP & NIV)

*Help me, O Lord my God; save me in accordance with your love. (Ps 109:26 NIV). That they may know that this is Your hand; that You, Lord, have done it. (Ps 109:27 AMP)

+I stand at the right hand of the poor and needy (Ps 109:31a paraphrased). Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand. (Jer. 18:6 NIV)

*Ensure your servant’s well-being….Deal with your servant according to your love….turn to me and have mercy on me as you always do to those who love your name (Ps 119:122a, 124, 132 NIV).

+For I have come down from heaven…to do the will of him who sent me…that I shall lose none of all that he has given me (John 6:38 & 39 NIV). I will build and I will plant (Jer. 18:9b paraphrased).

*My pot under the law was marred by sinful nature. (Rom 8:3 thought)

+You…are not controlled by the sinful nature but by the Spirit (Romans 8:9 NIV) …you are living the life of the Spirit, if the (Holy) Spirit of God…dwells within you (8:9 AMP).

*My clay body was dead because of sin. (Rom 8:10 thought)

+ Christ lives in you, [then although your natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you]. And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you. (Rom 8:10 & 11 AMP)

=We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the all surpassing power is from God…that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal body. (2 Corinthians 4:7, 10b, 11b NIV)

=The Father has given me pots of clay. The marred pots I will not drive away. I will give life to bodies of clay and will raise them up at the last day. I will raise them up at the last day. (John 6:37, 39, 40 thought in rhyme)
